The Bose® 161™ speaker system provides balanced stereo sound with an elegant design for both music and movie listeners. The 161™ system works with both a stereo or home theater components and will blend easily into practically any décor. Available as a pair, they are also included in our 301®/161™ home theater package and our VCS-30® home theater package.

Two proprietary Twiddler™ drivers in each enclosure help the 161™ system rival speakers of much larger size. These speakers were bought to enhace the music channels on our TV and they certainly have done that. The TV speakers were only mediocre.There is also a noticeable improvement in the clarity of the sound while watching movies and regular TV channels.

Yes, it is recommended to have a receiver or any stereo amplifier that is 10-100 watts per channel, 4-8 ohms to supply power to your Bose® 161™ Speakers. You will also need speaker wire (which YEW also sells!) so be sure to use the proper gauge (thickness) of speaker cord. For most applications, standard zip cord (2-conductor, 18-gauge [0.75 mm2] wire found at electrical and hardware stores) works. If you are using a length greater than 30 feet (9m) please call 1-866-224-6171 to installation assistance. Thank you for your inquiry.
