Our flagship 901® Series VI Direct/Reflecting® Speaker System brings the warmth, power and excitement of a concert hall or movie theater to your home. They create the mix of direct and reflected sound you hear in a live performance, to deliver a listening experience that conveys much of the emotion that only live music can evoke.

The introduction of the revolutionary Bose® 901® speakers in 1968 redefined the phrase “high fidelity.” For the first time, a speaker was capable of reproducing music with much of the impact, clarity and spaciousness of a live performance. Today's 901® speakers incorporate some 350 enhancements over the acclaimed original.

901® system works by reflecting most of the sound off walls and other flat surfaces, instead of aiming all the sound toward you, as conventional speakers do. With Direct/Reflecting® speaker technology, anything you listen to—from the latest DVD audio to your favorite vintage records—acquires lifelike realism, because the speakers reproduce the natural concert hall balance of direct and reflected sound.

The result is what we call Stereo Everywhere® speaker performance- stereo performance that is clear and lifelike everywhere in the room, instead of in just one "sweet spot." You'll experience balanced sound throughout the listening environment, no matter where you sit or stand.

The world's most highly acclaimed speaker, regardless of size or price. Re-creates a spacious, lifelike blend of reflected and direct sound. Inside each enclosure are nine full-range 4 1/2" helical voice coil drivers. Eight of them send sound out the back to reflect sound throughout the room. Active equalizer provides even sound distribution at all frequencies. The deep, powerful bass is made possible by the patented Acoustic Matrix™ enclosure that controls internal air flows of up to 60 mph.

The world's most acclaimed speaker, the 901® system is an established audio legend - the most advanced version of the finest component speaker from Bose®. Today's 901® Series VI Direct/Reflecting® speaker system is the result of continuous research, and over 1,000 improvements since the first 901 speaker revolutionized the audio world in 1968.
Each enclosure contains nine drivers, eight of them firing to the rear. Approximately 89% of the sound comes out the back, and reflects off the walls of the room to re-create a natural, spacious blend of reflected and direct sound similar to what you hear in a live performance. The proportion of reflected to direct sound is based on scientific research in concert halls. When you hear these speakers, close your eyes. The performers almost seem to be there with you.
Bose Stereo Everywhere® speaker performance lets you hear rich stereo almost everywhere in the room, instead of in one small "sweet spot" like conventional speakers.
Custom-engineered, free-standing Active Equalizer delivers a level of response and efficiency simply not available from conventional speakers. Compensates for the effects of driver sensitivity, enclosure characteristics, speaker placement, boundary reflections - even the absorption of sound by the grille material.
Acoustic Matrix™ speaker enclosure creates chambers that isolate and support the nine drivers. Overall efficiency is increased, while internal air flows of up to 60 mph are carefully controlled - giving you exceptionally well-defined bass.
Each enclosure's nine full-range, precisely positioned 4 1/2" (11.4 cm) Helical Voice Coil drivers accurately re-create much of the spacious, natural sound heard during a live performance. The soundstage is much larger than the distance between the two speakers. Instead of being confined to the speakers, the music expands way beyond them.
106 dB of dynamic range enables the 901® system to fully re-create the intended impact of digital compact discs.
