DTS is an established digital multichannel audio format that is used in many movie theaters. Only recently has DTS moved into the home theater front. Like Dolby Digital, it uses the 5.1 channel audio output, which includes the left and right front, the center, and the seperate left and right surround. It also adds a low current subwoofer output. DTS differs from Dolby Digital in the fact that they only use about one-fourth the data reduction of Dolby Digital. DTS also uses a 20-bit digital audio signal. The DTS comittment is to deliver an uncompromised reproduction of the original multi-track masters.
