The center channel is one the most important speakers in your surround speaker system.  Center channel speakers are the main source of dialog during movie watching.  They are also incorporated a great deal while listening to multi-channel music, ala DVD-Audio or SA-CD.  Envision it as the people on the screen are talking directly to you, this is the effect of a good quality center channel speaker.
