Denon AVR-3300 Details
Featuring the newest Analog Devices SHARC 32-bit DSP processor, the AVR-3300 provides Dolby Digital and DTS decoding with superb precision. The AVR-3300 is the most affordable A/V component to include the SHARC processor as the heart of the DDSC-D technology, and features premium 24-bit, 96 kHz DACs on all output channels. Prepared for the future, the AVR-3300 features 8 Channel external input, for connection to future multi-channel surround formats, along with 8 pre-amp outputs, providing a full upgrade path. A high quality, discrete power output section provides a total system power of 525 watts RMS into 8 ohms. In addition to providing five pairs of composite and "S" video inputs, the AVR-3300 is equipped with two sets of component video (Y, CB, CR) inputs (DVD and TV/DBS), and one set of component video outputs for connection to high resolution video displays. Dual Surround Speaker switching allows the use of two different types (and placements) of surround speakers - connect a pair of diffuse surround speakers for movie soundtracks, and a direct radiator type surround speaker for multi-channel music surround.
Equal Power Discrete Power Amplifier
Front 105 W + 105 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.05 % THD)
Center 105 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.05 % THD)
Surround 105 W + 105 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.05 % THD)
All five power amplifier channels feature discrete power out-put devices, and all five amplifier channels provide equal power with lowest distortion. Each channel is rated at 105 watts, into 8 ohms, from 20 Hz - 20 kHz, with no more than 0.05% THD. For maximum current delivery, the AVR-3300 features a large high current main power transformer, which provides greater power output capability into low impedance loads. A second, separate power transformer supplies energy to the other control sections.
Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit - Digital
Featuring the Analog Devices SHARC 32-bit DSP processor, DENON's DDSC-D circuitry faithfully recreates all the nuances of the original performance. The same 32-bit floating point DSP and I 2 S Interface chip that were used in the AVR-5700 has been incorporated in the AVR-3300. This DSP is endowed with superior signal processing capabilities that masterfully handle even the most delicate, expressive details of the recorded sound.
Dolby Digital
Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic decoding functions are performed in the digital domain for excellent dynamic range and crystal clear reproduction. DTS
Digital Theater Systems decoding provides thrilling movie and music multi-channel surround sound.
96 kHz, 24-bit Audio D/A Converters
High-quality Surround Sound from Analog Sources
The Delta Sigma 20-bit A/D Converter is used in the AVR-3300 to reproduce high-quality surround sound from analog sources. High-quality Pro Logic surround sound is possible from any of your favorite analog programs.
Surround A/B Speaker Switching
The AVR-3300's surround A/B speaker switching capability lets you take advantage of the different speaker settings required when you listen to the dynamic sound of movies as it moves within your listening space or the multi-channel sound tracks of music recorded in concert halls.
Separate Current Supplies for Circuits
The AVR-3300 is equipped with a main transformer featuring independent 4-winding outputs, and a dedicated transformer for the microprocessor, to completely separate the power amplifier, audio, digital, and video circuits. This construction reduces noise interference among the circuits and ensures a clean, transparent sound.
Hefty Power Transformer for Stable Supply of Power
A huge 6.45-kilogram (14.2-pound) power transformer has been connected in the power section where it is combined with a rectifier diode and a large block capacitor to ensure a large, stable supply of electrical current. Accordingly, the AVR-3300 boasts high output power of 105 W for each of the 5 channels.
Stable Speaker Drive
In the AVR-3300, the circuitry through which current flows to drive the speakers has been incorporated onto a single board between the rectifier circuit of the power source and the speaker terminals. A new phase correction circuit has also been adopted, eliminating the need for an output coil. Since this configuration allows the power transistor to drive the speakers directly, there is no loss of power to any of the channels. The sound that you hear is thus extremely stable as well as powerful.
8-Channel Input For Future Multi-Channel Formats
Multi-function Remote Controller
The dominant theme in the design of the AVR-3300's remote controller has been vastly improved ease of use. The buttons have been given different shapes so that they can be recognized by touch in a dark room, and visually, the buttons' functions are grouped by color so that the required buttons are easily found. The buttons also feature GLO-Key for further ease of operation in the dark.
