Product Review:
Prior to this grill I owned a Weber for 15 years. But the wife got it in the divorce. I wanted to buy a Weber but because of my financial situation I went cheap and bought this one. Now after two years I am wondering how to get rid of it.
The push button starter takes a battery and you have to wiggle it to get it to work. Not sure why I need a battery in the first place. The Weber didn't need one. The grill flames up like crazy so you are constantly fighting fires. You cannot turn you back on it for a second or your food is burned! This seems to be caused mainly because of the very large and wide heat shields over the burner tubes. The meat juices stay on these shields and cause fires. The Weber has narrower shields at a steeper angle allowing the juices to vaporize as they run off.
Another oddity is the unit has double steel wall door on the lower compartment which is real nice. But when you open the door you are looking out into your back yard. Because there is no back wall on the lower compartment of the grill. Why even bother with a nice door if there is no back on the grill! It seems like someone forgot to design a back for the grill. It looks stupid!!
Assembly is a real pain. Plan on at least 2-4 hours to assemble it.
I thought that since Weber bought Ducane they would impart some of their engineering into the Ducane product. That did not happen!!
If you have previously owned a Char Broil or similar low end grill. Then this should be fine for you. If you have owned a Weber avoid this grill or you will be very disappointed. Was this review helpful to you? Yes/No
Get what you pay for, maybe less.
