The Pioneer BDP 51FD replaced a Denon 3800 DVD player. The PQ is superior, but the audio is not. I connected the Pioneer as the Denon (analogue out). After going thru some setup changes in the Pioneer, the best I was able to get is to use the digital out and change all audio out settings to PCM.
I have an older Outlaw pre amp, and I suppose a new receiver with HDMI input could make the difference. I’m investigating this. If I find that a new receiver with HDMI will improve the sound, then that will be my next purchase. Was this review helpful to you? Yes/No
